Each series follows the lives of four girls from their respective season of 16 and Pregnant as they navigate their first years of motherhood.

Season four premiered on February 17, 2012 but on H2 instead of the History channel. In June 2012, Giorgio A. Tsoukalos announced on Coast to Coast AM that the series has been renewed for a fifth season. Season 5 premiered on December 21, 2012.
